Helpful Tips Using Dawn Dish Soap

I know this is not your average post from me but I saw these tips and thought I wished I’d known about these when my kids were little. Some I feel would be helpful even now in my everyday life. I hope these help you too! Enjoy!

I came across these tips and just had to share because they’re so helpful! Who knew one bottle of Dawn could do all this?

WHY DAWN?

Ever wondered why Dawn is the go-to choice for cleaning wildlife after an oil spill? According to the International Bird Rescue Research Center, Dawn is tough on grease but gentle on skin, biodegradable, and phosphate-free.

FUN WITH BUBBLES

Mix up some giant bubbles!

½ cup Ultra Dawn

½ gallon warm water

1 tbsp glycerin (or White Karo syrup)

Stir gently, skim off the foam, and let the bubble fun begin!

GREASY HAIR FIX

Kids get into everything—even Vaseline and baby oil. Dawn is gentle enough for their hair but powerful enough to remove stubborn grease.

REMOVE HAIR PRODUCT BUILD-UP

Use Dawn as a shampoo once a month to clear out product residue and excess oil. No need for pricey salon treatments!

MANICURE MAGIC

Soak your fingers in full-strength blue Dawn—it softens cuticles and preps nails for polish that sticks.

HOUSEPLANT PEST CONTROL

Add a drop of Dawn to a spray bottle of water. Mist your plants to repel aphids, mites, and mealybugs.

SPARKLING WINDOWS

Mix 3 drops of Dawn in 1 gallon of water. Spray, wipe, and enjoy streak-free shine.

FLEA-FREE PETS

Bathe your dogs with Dawn—it kills fleas instantly and costs way less than specialty shampoos.

TOOL CLEAN-UP

Soak greasy tools in Dawn to remove oil and prevent rust.

DIY ICE PACK

Fill a zip-top bag with Dawn and freeze. It stays cold longer, is reusable, and molds to the area you need.

SHOWER CLEANER

Mix hot white vinegar with blue Dawn in a spray bottle. Spray, let sit, and rinse—bye-bye grime and soap scum!

ANT REPELLENT

Spray counters and surfaces with a Dawn-water mix. Ants hate it, and it’s safe for kids and pets.

STRIP CLOTH DIAPERS

Add a squirt of Dawn to a hot wash cycle to remove oily residue. Rinse thoroughly until the water runs clear.

UNCLOG TOILETS

Pour 1 cup of Dawn into a clogged toilet. Let sit for 15 minutes, then pour in a bucket of hot water from waist height. Problem solved!

POISON IVY RELIEF

Dawn helps remove the oils from poison ivy blisters and prevents further spreading.

DRIVEWAY DEGREASER

Scrub oil stains on your driveway with Dawn and warm water for an effective clean-up.

PAINT & GREASE REMOVER FOR HANDS

Mix Dawn with corn oil to remove stubborn grease and paint without drying your skin.

KIDDIE POOL CLEANER

Scrub plastic wading pools with Dawn—it won’t damage the material like bleach can.

ALL-PURPOSE CLEANER

Use a drop of Dawn in water to clean:

Tile and linoleum floors

Bathroom and kitchen counters

Baseboards and shelves

OILY LAUNDRY STAINS

Dawn pre-treats stains like lipstick, grease, and butter. Apply, scrub, and wash as usual.

NON-TOXIC LUBRICANT

Use Dawn on sliding glass doors, hinges, and knobs—it cleans and lubricates without harmful chemicals.

SIDEWALK DE-ICER

Mix 1 tsp Dawn, 1 tbsp rubbing alcohol, and ½ gallon hot water. Pour over icy sidewalks—they won’t refreeze!

POOL CLEANER

Add a squirt of Dawn to your pool—the dirt and oils will move to the edges for easy clean-up.

FOG-FREE EYEGLASSES

Rub a drop of Dawn on lenses and wipe clean for fog-free vision.

SHOWER FLOOR CLEANER

Apply Dawn to greasy shower floors overnight, scrub in the morning, and rinse away.

FRUIT TREE APHID SPRAY

Mix 2 tbsp Dawn in 1 gallon of water. Spray leaves and branches, let sit, and rinse thoroughly.

THE PERFECT HOSTESS GIFT

Pair a bottle of Blue Dawn with these tips printed out—it’s practical, thoughtful, and sure to be appreciated!

How important is breakfast...

Eight Reasons to Start Your Day With a Protein-Dense Shake.....  Your mom always told you that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Of course, mom’s always right.
