STOP the excuses…

Life literally “just happens” sometimes.  That saying that people do half of what you do and a 100% what you don’t do. I’m pretty sure that’s true.  I’ll admit…it’s been stressful lately.  Have I stress ate? Me: “Guilty…”

I know I’m not the only person to latch onto food as comfort.  Quite honestly I’m sure it’s a normal response to stress.

So I told myself…”Stop it!  This never worked for you before.”

My son was transported to a hospital he’d previously had surgery at this year.  Yes, less than a year.  But…it’s ok to take precautions.  Never quite know what life will throw at us.  I had taken some yarn to crochet and it’s been some good therapy.  And a little time to just “Be Still”. How often do we do that!?!  Not often enough.  Life is always hustling and bustling.  Things to do, places to be and so many that need us.

While I was waiting for my son to be transported 3 1/2 hrs, I had one of my new licensed drivers (thank goodness I had her help…), pack me some things I was going to need.  I didn’t want to worry about meals so I had her throw a couple canisters (bulk-full meals loaded with high protein and just a superfood, some hydrate- no sugar, fully loaded with vitamins & minerals (electrolytes to boost my immune system), and my stress tea.  Oh and some gut health support.  Being away from home, stress, continually thinking of the rest of the family and how they might be coping…can really affect you.

I decided to STOP the excuses!  So not only did my daughter pack what I asked but way more than expected.  Some immune booster for my supplement meal, healthy snacks…she set me up good. Only need the 1 healthy 400-600 calorie meal which is provided as a courtesy to the parent.

Though this is not what I wanted to do….I’m thankful for the mindset shift and refocus on what I need for me.  I want to be the best version of myself for those around me.  One of the things I love about being a nutrition specialist is that I realize the flaws, life’s challenges, storms we face, etc.  I know how to overcome them and it allows me to help others get through life’s battles.  It’s better to have someone who can be accountable and help you through.  I’m thankful that I am privileged to be able to help people with solutions that help us be better humans.  What health goals are you facing?  Let’s conquer them together.  Can’t say it will cure anything but “What if…” something could put a little relief in your life..

Don’t...

Don’t be held captive by your thoughts... #motivationalmonday This hit me like a brick.  For so long I let myself be a prisoner by my thoughts, how I felt when I looked in the mirror, insecurities, lack of self confidence and now I feel like a whole new person!  I’m thankful that Jesus helped me through some of my darkest storms. Even when I feel alone, I know He is right beside me. Not to mention the amazing family I’ve been gifted.  I’m truly blessed.   Life is important. 👉 YOU 👈 are important.   Hope you have an awesome day and Happy New Year!

How important is breakfast...

Eight Reasons to Start Your Day With a Protein-Dense Shake.....  Your mom always told you that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Of course, mom’s always right. But does the science back her recommendation up? From an array of studies, scientists have demonstrated the efficacy of breakfast for a variety of health benefits. Here is a running list that should give you more reasons to start every day with a nutritious, high-protein meal. Or, better yet, a protein-dense meal-replacement shake: 1. Improved Concentration and Memory From large observational trials, mainly targeted toward children, breakfast is shown to be strongly associated with improved concentration and memory (1) Scientists suggest that this is due to breakfast’s immediate impact on blood sugar to fuel young brains (2,3). In one of the largest systemat...
